Classes Being Offered In Fall 2024
Classes for Ages 0-3
Tiny Tots
Tiny Tots classes are available to ages 0-3 accompanied by a parent or guardian. It is a half-hour class designed for little ones to experience the joy of moving with influences of music, dance, and singing. All dancers will wear anything movable (no jeans) and will dance barefoot.
Classes for Ages 3-6
Creative Movement
Creative Movement classes are available to ages 3-5. It is a half-hour class designed for young dancers to experience the joy of moving with influences of music, dance, singing, and theatrical drama. Female dancers must wear a leotard with a skirt or a t-shirt with fitted pants, have their hair up, and dance barefoot. Male dancers must wear a t-shirt with fitted pants and dance barefoot.
Mighty Movers
Mighty Movers classes are available to ages 3-5. It is a half-hour class designed for young dancers to experience the joy of moving in a high energy environment. The style is similar to Hip Hop that has upbeat music and quick movement. All dancers must wear a t-shirt with fitted pants, have their hair up, and dance barefoot.
Mini Monkeys
Mini Monkeys classes are available to ages 4-6. It is a half-hour class designed to introduce young dancers to Acrobatic dance (inspired by gymnastics). All dancers must wear a t-shirt with fitted pants, have their hair up, and dance barefoot.
Pre Ballet
Pre Ballet classes are available to ages 3-5. It is a half-hour class designed for young dancers to learn beginner ballet technique. Female dancers must wear a leotard with fitted pants or a skirt, have their hair up, and wear ballet shoes. Male dancers must wear a t-shirt with fitted pants and ballet shoes.
Teeny Tappers
Teeny Tappers classes are available to ages 3-5. It is a half-hour class designed to introduce young dancers to musicality and rhythm. Female dancers must wear a leotard with fitted pants or a skirt, have their hair up, and wear tap shoes. Male dancers must wear a t-shirt with fitted pants and tap shoes.
Classes for Ages 6-16
Acro
Acro classes are available in two levels. A placement class at the beginning of the term will determine which class is the best fit for each child. The classes focus on balance, flexibility, floor work, and strength training. We do not offer tumbling. Female dancers must wear a leotard with black convertible tights over top, have their hair up, and dance barefoot. Male dancers must wear a t-shirt with fitted pants, and dance barefoot.
Ballet
Ballet classes are available for ages ages 6-8. The class focusses on developing basic ballet technique in flowing, graceful movement taking elements from the Royal Academy of Dance (RAD) syllabus. Female dancers must wear a leotard with a skirt or pink convertible tights underneath, ballet shoes, and have their hair in a bun. Male dancers must wear a t-shirt with fitted pants and ballet shoes.
Contemporary & Improvisation
Contemporary & Improvisation classes are available to ages 8-16. The class focusses on developing basic contemporary dance technique, finding spontaneous movement inspiration, and generating choreography. Female dancers must wear a leotard with black convertible tights over top, and have their hair up. Male dancers must wear a t-shirt with fitted pants.
Hip Hop
Hip Hop classes are available to ages 6-12. The class uses popular upbeat music and takes influences from current pop-culture. All dancers must wear a t-shirt with fitted pants, indoor running shoes, and have their hair up.
Jazz/Tap
Jazz/Tap classes are available to ages 6-12. The class combines the technique, musical inspirations, and styles of Tap and Jazz dancing. Female dancers must wear a leotard with black convertible tights over top, jazz shoes, and have their hair up. Male dancers must wear a t-shirt with fitted pants and jazz shoes. Tap shoes are optional for certain components of the class.
Choreography
Junior, Intermediate, and Senior Choreography classes are for dancers selected by invitation to receive an accelerated pace, focused learning environment. The class will include a basic warm up in ballet, contemporary, and jazz dance to develop strong technique. During the rest of class, dancers will learn pieces of choreography in the different styles we offer through the studio to be performed locally. Through the term, dancers will have the opportunity to work with professional guest artists. Female dancers must wear a leotard with black convertible tights over top, have their hair up, and dance barefoot. Male dancers must wear a t-shirt with fitted pants and dance barefoot.
Dance With Support
Dance With Support is a class available to dancers between the ages of 5-18 of all levels of ability. This includes individuals who experience cognitive impairments or disabilities, and physical impairments or disabilities. Dancers in this class may be joined by an additional support individual to help make the experience as enjoyable as possible. In each class we will focus on several styles of dance.
Dancers and support individuals can wear any clothing of choice with the exception of large jewelry and outdoor shoes (safety hazards). We do however recommend that dancers wear a fitted shirt, pants, indoor running shoes or bare feet, and have their hair up if possible. Please note our facility is wheelchair accessible.
Classes for Adults
Adult Burlesque
Adult Burlesque classes are available to ages 16+. The class uses exercises taken from Jazz and Hip Hop basics taught to be performed in a sensual way. Dancers can wear a fitted shirt, pants, indoor running shoes or ballet shoes, and have their hair up.
Dance With Support
Dance With Support is a class available to dancers between the ages 18-75 of all levels of ability. This includes individuals who experience cognitive impairments or disabilities, physical impairments or disabilities, and injuries. Dancers in this class may be joined by an additional support individual to help make the experience as enjoyable as possible. In each class we will focus on several styles of dance providing each individual with a tailored experience based on their needs. The classes are capped at five dancers to provide the specific support and learning path that best suits each dancer.
Dancers and support individuals can wear any clothing of choice with the exception of large jewelry and outdoor shoes (safety hazards). We do however recommend that dancers wear a fitted shirt, pants, indoor running shoes or bare feet, and have their hair up if possible. Please note our facility is wheelchair accessible.
Dancewear Uniforms
Female dancers can wear any solid colour of leotard as long as they do not have jewels, sparkles, or mesh. Male dancers can wear a fitted plain coloured t-shirt with black fitted pants.
Once a dancer has registered for a class, we can assist in ordering the leotards, tights, shoes, and hair supplies required for the class's uniform.
